Jared Nickerson – Stunning Vector Girl Illustrations
« John Lennon Vector Art Tribute - Imagination ... | Caramelaw – Strange Nature Drawings »

What makes girls sexy? The way they express themselves. A sweet body and a cute face. Smile and eyes. Confidence, a strong mind, hot moves, style and definitely attitude. These vector girls by Jared Nickerson for Suicide Girls have it all!
Halifax-born illustrator Jared Nickerson lives and works in Seattle, Washington. He began developing his vector style in his teens, after he picked up a copy of CorelDraw. Today, Adobe Illustrator is his weapon of choice.
Nickerson runs his design studio J3Concepts and works as a designer for online t-shirt company LaFraise. His freelance work varies from art direction, editorial, videogames and textile design. Nickerson’s true passion is character design. He loves to create new cartoon characters and expressions. He states that his work doesn’t have a real message; his art is purely for visual sake – it has to be eye catching, cute and fun in the first place. Nickerson likes humor based on people’s reactions and facial expressions. By working on video games, he developed a database of facial characteristics and expressions he now uses for all of his work.
Nickerson is a strong believer in the power of vector art. He praises the many advantages of vector programs: the versatility, the fact that you can increase the size without losing quality or can change color schemes with a simple click of your mouse. As a brilliant vector artist, Nickerson uses Illustrator for 99% of his works.
His most used Illustrator tools are the pen and pathfinder tools as they are essential in creating clean lined complete characters. Nickerson also loves to use a textured background on top of his illustrations. For Nickerson, experimenting is key to his personal growth as an artist. He states that he is still learning new stuff about Illustrator everyday and discovering new tools.
The illustrators and designers Nickerson admires most are 123Klan, Cuypi, Smatik, HelloFreaks, Niark1 and Zombie Corp. Together with Brad Mahaffey, Nickerson also co-founded BloodSweatVector, a vector art showcase website for like-minded illustrators to get together and mess around. BloodSweatVector is also organizing vector art exhibitions, and they play with the idea to release a book.
The promo wallpaper pack Jared Nickerson did for Suicide Girls is still a crowd favorite. With the 13 girls illustrations, Nickerson bridged the gap between his stylized character illustrations and portrait illustrations. All of Jared’s vector girls look really pretty and stunning and stay in our minds for a long time. We are looking forward to see more of Nickerson’s amazing illustrations.
